Softball Recap: Payson Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Payson, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Monday. They came out on top against the Benjamin Franklin Chargers by a score of 9-5 on Tuesday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 16-1 back in March.

Payson let Holdyn Waterman and Logann Prock run wild. Waterman went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run, while Prock scored two runs while going 3-for-3. Those three hits gave Prock a new career-high. Danica Peters also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Payson was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .417. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .400 or higher in three consecutive matches.

Payson pushed their record up to 11-9 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.7 runs over those games. As for Benjamin Franklin, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Payson will challenge rival Northwest Christian at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Benjamin Franklin is set to face off against their familiar foe San Tan Foothills at 3:45 p.m. on Monday.
