It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Wade Hampton ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They had just enough and edged out the Spartanburg Vikings 5-4. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent victory being a 7-5 win last Wednesday.

Wade Hampton let Jonas Moore and Jack Stepp run wild. Moore scored a run while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances, while Stepp went 1-for-4 with three RBI. Moore also hit a double, marking his first of the season.

The win made it two in a row for Wade Hampton and bumps their season record up to 4-2. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 1.5 runs across that stretch. As for Spartanburg, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wade Hampton will take on Dorman at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Dorman will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Wade Hampton surely won't give up without a fight. As for Spartanburg, they will square off against Riverside at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
