Douglas County took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Legend, sneaking past 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Huskies have posted against the Titans since April 11, 2016.
Douglas County saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jackson Kiehn, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, Mountain Vista unfortunately witnessed the end of their ten-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell just short of Ponderosa by a score of 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Golden Eagles have suffered since May 8, 2024.
Mountain Vista also got a good showing from Sawyer Tipton, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That one hit allowed gave Tipton a new career-low.
On the hitting side, Spike Magill made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
Mountain Vista's loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 7-1 and their overall record down to 13-6. As for Douglas County, their victory bumped their record up to 7-10.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Friday. Douglas County hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.6 home runs per game. However, it's not like Mountain Vista struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.6 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
