Baseball Game Preview: Capital Golden Eagles vs. Ridgevue Warhawks

The Capital Golden Eagles will take on the Ridgevue Warhawks at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Capital is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.

Capital came up short against Owyhee on Tuesday, falling 8-2.

Capital saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Wyatt Call, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double. That double marked the first that Call has hit this season.

Ridgevue's found some homefield redemption this week after a overtime loss to Boise on Tuesday. The Warhawks walked away with a 6-3 win over Borah.

Ridgevue let Elliot Jamison and Landon Dance run wild. Jamison went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI, while Dance went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Capital now has a losing record of 10-11. As for Ridgevue, they now have a winning record of 8-7-1.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Capital has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.2 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Ridgevue struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 6.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.

Capital might still be hurting after the 12-2 defeat they got from Ridgevue in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Can the Golden Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
