Volleyball Recap: Weir's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

There's no place like home for Weir, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Brooke Bruins on Thursday. This was a revenge game for the Red Riders: when they faced off against the Bruins back in September, they had to take a 2-0 defeat.

The win didn't come easy: Brooke scored at least 18 points in every set. The final score came out to 25-19, 23-25, 25-23, 25-18.

Ella Kaufman paced Weir's offense, picking up 14 kills. Kaufman got some help from Amalia Kirlangitis and her 33 assists. Kaylee Webster controlled things from the service line, finishing with eight aces.

The victory snapped Weir's losing streak at four matches and leaves them with a 7-17-1 record. As for Brooke, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-17 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Weir will venture away from home to take on John Marshall at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Brooke, after both having extra time off, they and Magnolia will shake off the rust and duke it out at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
