Preview: Norton vs. Lakin
The regular season was a success, but the real challenge begins now, in the postseason. Lakin will take on Norton at home at 7:00 PM on Friday. If you head out to watch the game, expect to stay the whole 48 minutes: the MaxPreps rankings predict a close match.
Last Friday, Lakin put the finishing touches on their 5th blowout victory of the season. Everything came up roses for them against Lyons as the team secured a 46-7 win. Lakin's success was spearheaded by the efforts of senior Juan Banuelos, who rushed for 105 yards and 1 touchdown, and sophomore Trey Hayzlett, who rushed for 72 yards and 3 touchdowns. Banuelos has now scored at least one touchdown in the past three games.
After a string of three wins, Norton's good fortune finally ran out. They found themselves the reluctant recipients of an unpleasant 27-49 punch to the gut against Hoisington.
Lakin's victory lifted them to 7-1 while Norton's defeat dropped them down to 4-4. We'll find out if Lakin can add another positive mark to their record or if Norton can shake off the loss and take the spring out of Lakin's step.
