Baseball Recap: Lee Legends vs. Ottawa Hills Bengals
Lee extended their losing streak to 15 on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 1-17 in the process. They lost 15-9 to the Ottawa Hills Bengals. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bengals this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-5 on Tuesday.
As for Ottawa Hills, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-26. They not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since May 9th (when they won 17-2).
For Ottawa Hills' part, Josiah DeBlaay was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off three hits. Those seven strikeouts gave DeBlaay a new career-high. He was even better at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases, four runs, and five RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Ottawa Hills' success: when he posts at least three hits the team is 2-1 (and 2-25 when he doesn't).
In other batting news, Zach Kinnear was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with four RBI, one triple, and one run. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jonah Spoelma, who went 2-for-4 with four stolen bases and two runs.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lee will venture away from home to square off against Christian at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Ottawa Hills, they will head out to take on Wyoming at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday.
