Softball Game Preview: Westampton Tech Panthers vs. Holy Cross Lancers

The Westampton Tech Panthers will square off against the Holy Cross Lancers at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday. Westampton Tech will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

Westampton Tech is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Doane Academy with a sharp 23-6 win on Wednesday. While the Panthers didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-13), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Meanwhile, Holy Cross unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell 7-4 to Haddon Heights.

Jamie Dunn was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and three unearned) runs off ten hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one triple and two RBI. That triple was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Lilly Whitaker was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one double.

Westampton Tech's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-4. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.0 runs over those games. As for Holy Cross, their loss dropped their record down to 6-5.

Westampton Tech skirted past Holy Cross 5-3 in their previous matchup on April 9th. Will the Panthers repeat their success, or do the Lancers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
