Baseball Game Preview: Mapleton Mounties vs. Smithville Smithies

Mapleton is on a three-game streak of home losses, and Smithville a five-game streak of away losses. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Saturday. The Mapleton Mounties will host the Smithville Smithies at 12:00 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Mapleton lost 18-7 to Ashland on Friday.

Tyson Welch made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one double. Mason Sword was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one double.

Meanwhile, Wednesday just wasn't the day for Smithville's offense. They came up short against Waynedale on Wednesday, falling 11-0. While getting shut out isn't ideal, the Smithies haven't been shut out since back in March.

Smithville's defeat dropped their record down to 3-10. As for Mapleton, their loss dropped their record down to 4-11.
