Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Cottage). They walked away with a 58-51 win over Mill Springs Academy on Friday. The score was all tied up 25-25 at the break, but the Cougars were the better team in the second half.

Leading Cottage to victory were Jackson Barnes and Maxwell Lagan. Barnes went 10 of 16 on his way to 25 points and eight boards, while Lagan dropped a double-double on 17 points and 16 rebounds. The dominant performance gave Barnes a new career-high in points. Gavin Akers was another key player, dropping a double-double on ten points and 16 rebounds.

Cottage was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Despite the defeat, Mill Springs Academy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Hampton Hill went 7 for 12 en route to 20 points and six assists. The game was Hill's 25th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sam Hartman, who went 6 of 11 on his way to 14 points.

The victory made it two in a row for Cottage and bumps their season record up to 4-10. As for Mill Springs Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 6-5.

Cottage has already played their next match, a 52-50 defeat against Varsity Opponent on the 25th. As for Mill Springs Academy, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 64-44 win against Cumberland Academy of Georgia on the 27th.
