Softball Game Preview: Cape Cod RVT Crusaders vs. Bristol County Agricultural Chieftains

Cape Cod RVT hasn't had much luck against Bristol County Agricultural recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Crusaders will be playing in front of their home fans against the Chieftains at 3:30 p.m. Cape Cod RVT has given up an average of 13.1 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Cape Cod RVT came up short against Old Colony RVT on Monday, falling 16-4.

Meanwhile, Bristol County Agricultural had already won eight in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.6 runs) and they went ahead and made it nine on Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Wildcats an 18-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Chieftains, who have now won eight contests by eight runs or more so far this season.

Ruth Fagundes tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Autumn Nicholson was a standout: she went 3-for-5 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Molly LaBrie, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, five RBI, and three runs.

Bristol County Agricultural was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .448. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .375 or higher in nine consecutive games.

Bristol County Agricultural's win bumped their record up to 12-2. As for Cape Cod RVT, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-6.
