Nebraska's most improved boys soccer teams

As the Nebraska boys high school soccer season prepares to hit the stretch run, we've crunched the numbers in an attempt to determine which programs have made the most substantial improvements in MaxPreps' Computer Rankings over a year ago.

Waverly rose 27 spots in Tuesday's updated MaxPreps Computer Ratings, compared to last spring, to claim the top spot and own the other 65 Cornhusker State programs. The Vikings, just 4-12 a year ago, have turned in a 9-4 record so far this spring, improving its won-loss record a Top 10 second best 6.5 games. Millard South, the No. 2 program in this week's Top 10 after moving up 24 spots from a year ago, edged Waverly in that category with a seven game turnaround.

Scottsbluff takes the No. 3 spot after improving 23 places in the rankings, while Lincoln High and Crete round out the Top 5 with 20 and 19 rung swings respectively. Omaha Bryan and North Platte tied for seventh in the Top 10 and Kearney Catholic and Gering were deadlocked at No. 10.

In calculating these turnarounds, it has been determined that the team displaying the most improvement in its won-loss record, is the victor in the case of a tie. Omaha Bryan earns the tiebreaker over North Platte and Kearney Catholic edged Gering.



Of the programs that landed in this week's Top 10, North Platte holds the highest ranking at No. 7. Besides the Bulldogs, Elkhorn (8th), Millard South (12th) and Crete (13th) are sitting in the Top 15 after going through subpar campaigns a year ago. Of the 11 schools listed this week, Waverly, Millard South, Scottsbluff, Lincoln High, Omaha Bryan, Holdrege and Kearney Catholic have all produced winning records after suffering through below .500 seasons a year ago.
