Baseball Recap: Proviso West Takes a Loss

Oak Park-River Forest hit Proviso West with a 11-run first inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Panthers came up short against the Huskies, falling 14-3. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Panthers of the 7-4 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

Proviso West saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Logan Komperda, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Proviso West has also been struggling recently as they've lost 13 of their last 15 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-15 record this season. As for Oak Park-River Forest, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 17-7.

While Proviso West had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
