Football Game Preview: Boyertown Bears vs. Phoenixville Phantoms

Boyertown is a perfect 3-0 against Phoenixville since October of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Bears will welcome the Phantoms at 7:00 p.m. Boyertown will be strutting in after a victory while Phoenixville will be coming in after a defeat.

Boyertown was handed a 28-point loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Friday. They pulled ahead with a 14-13 photo finish over Norristown. The Bears haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Michael Boorse had a dynamite game, rushing for 174 yards and two touchdowns. Those two rushing touchdowns gave him a new career-high.

Boorse was just one part of a punishing run game: Boyertown was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 233 rushing yards. The Bears are 5-1 when they've run for more than 200 yards.

Meanwhile, Phoenixville fell victim to Pottsgrove and their airtight defense on Friday. They were beaten by the Falcons 27-0. The Phantoms have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Phoenixville's defeat dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Boyertown, they now have a winning record of 5-4.

Boyertown beat Phoenixville 31-19 when the teams last played back in October of 2019. Do the Bears have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Phantoms turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
