Football Recap: Gateway Charter Academy Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Gateway Charter Academy had lost five straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped down to 0-4 to make it six. They took a blow against the Trinity Leadership Tigers, falling 44-0. The Gators lost against the Tigers in their previous head to head back in October of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 2-0 score last time.

As for Trinity Leadership, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 4-2. The victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 11.5 points on average over those games.

Londen Cook continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 232 yards and three touchdowns on only 13 passes, while also punching in one TD on the ground. His passing game has become a key predictor of Trinity Leadership's success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 1-2 otherwise. Damian Demas was Cook's top target, picking up 103 receiving yards and one score.

Gateway Charter Academy and Trinity Leadership will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next games. The next time the Gators see the field they'll take on Scurry-Rosser at 7:00 p.m. on the 17th. As for Trinity Leadership, their break will end when they face Blooming Grove at 7:00 p.m. on the 17th.
