Football Recap: Burkeville Takes a Loss

After flying high against Calvert last Friday, Burkeville came back down to earth. The Mustangs were beaten by the Baytown Christian Bulldogs 65-20 on Friday. The loss put an end to the Mustangs' undefeated start to the season.

When it comes to explaining why Burkeville lost, don't look at JaDerrick Ballard. Despite the final result, he rushed for 129 yards and a pair of scores on only 12 carries, and also threw for 155 yards and one TD on only 13 passes.

Having lost for the first time this season, Burkeville fell to 2-1. As for Baytown Christian, they now also have a winning record of 2-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Burkeville will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Northland Christian at 6:00 p.m. on the 26th. As for Baytown Christian, they will square off against High Island at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
