Basketball Game Preview: West Holt Huskies vs. Battle Creek Braves

The West Holt Huskies and the Battle Creek Braves will compete for holiday cheer at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Battle Creek is hoping to do what Chambers/Wheeler Central couldn't on Tuesday: put an end to West Holt's winning streak, which now stands at four games. West Holt put the hurt on Chambers/Wheeler Central with a sharp 63-42 win. The Huskies have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three matches by 21 points or more this season.

West Holt got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Andrew Rentschler out in front who went 7 of 13 on his way to 18 points. That's the most points Rentschler has posted since back in January. The team also got some help courtesy of Zach Hooey, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and ten boards.

West Holt smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in four consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Battle Creek suffered their closest loss since January 26th on Friday. They fell just short of North Bend Central by a score of 60-57.

West Holt's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-0. As for Battle Creek, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-2.

West Holt skirted past Battle Creek 49-46 when the teams last played back in December of 2023. Does West Holt have another victory up their sleeve, or will Battle Creek turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
