Softball Recap: Lake Roosevelt Comes Up Short

Lake Roosevelt couldn't beat Almira-Coulee-Hartline on Thursday even though they stacked five runs on them in the fifth inning. The Raiders fell just short of the Warriors by a score of 8-7. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Raiders of the 12-2 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2024.

Nautika Brown was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-4 with three RBI and one run. Alivia Bjorson was another key player, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.

Lake Roosevelt has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-5 record this season. As for Almira-Coulee-Hartline, their win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lake Roosevelt will venture away from home to take on Liberty Bell at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Mountain Lions have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 15.94 runs per game on average), something the Raiders will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Almira-Coulee-Hartline, they will head out on the road to face off against Mary Walker at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
