Basketball Recap: Aliana Garcia's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Dobson over Red Mountain

Dobson was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They took a hard 52-34 fall against the Red Mountain Mountain Lions. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Mustangs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 47-25 two weeks ago.

Several Mustangs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Aliana Garcia, who posted eight points and five boards. The dominant performance also gave Garcia a new career-high in assists (four). Another player making a difference was Lana Shirley, who went 6 of 12 en route to 14 points and four steals.

Red Mountain's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Macy Johnson, who earned 14 points and five rebounds. Johnson is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. Korey Roberts was another key player, going 5 for 9 on her way to 10 points in addition to six assists and five boards.

Dobson's defeat dropped their record down to 5-13. As for Red Mountain, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season.

Dobson has already played their next contest (against Westwood), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Red Mountain didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 55-51 win against Mountain View on the 23rd.
