Volleyball Recap: Berean Christian Takes a Loss

Berean Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against the California Grizzlies, falling 3-0. The Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Grizzlies apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Berean Christian took the loss but they managed to make steady progress, increasing their score in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-14, 25-23, 28-26.

California got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Evan Bautista out in front who had 12 digs. That's the most digs Bautista has posted over his last 14 games. The team also got some help courtesy of Beau Banta, who had 36 assists and nine digs.

Berean Christian now has a losing record of 7-8. As for California, their victory ended a nine-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 8-12.

Berean Christian has already played their next contest, a 3-1 defeat against Contra Costa Christian on the 14th. As for California, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 3-1 win against Monte Vista on the 15th.
