Xavier took a eight-run defeat the last time they faced off against Kennedy, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Saints narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Cougars 13-12. The Saints' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Xavier's victory bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Kennedy, their loss dropped their record down to 7-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Xavier will take on Dubuque Senior at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Kennedy, they will face off against Western Dubuque at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Bobcats will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Cougars surely won't give up without a fight.
