Basketball Recap: Desert Ridge Takes a Loss

Desert Ridge was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their tenth straight loss. They came up short against the Gilbert Tigers, falling 64-39. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Jaguars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 79-31 back in January.

It was another big night for Isabella Ivy, who went 9 for 17 on her way to 22 points and five steals for Gilbert. The matchup was Ivy's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Contessa Ivy, who posted nine points along with five boards and three steals.

Desert Ridge's defeat dropped their record down to 6-13. As for Gilbert, the victory (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 16-6.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Desert Ridge will host Higley at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Higley is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.4 points per game this season. As for Gilbert, they will welcome Williams Field at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Gilbert is on a 11-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), Williams Field a six-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
