West Lafayette comes up short despite Adrianne Tolen's dominant performance

Recap: West Lafayette Red Devils vs. Rensselaer Central Bombers

The West Lafayette Red Devils pushed their score all the way to 60 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 68-60 hit to the loss column at the hands of Rensselaer Central. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game last Tuesday (56), West Lafayette still had to take the loss.

When it comes to explaining why West Lafayette lost, one person who can't be blamed is Adrianne Tolen. Despite the final result, she scored 30 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Tolen has scored all season. Molly Andrew was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with seven rebounds.

Rensselaer Central's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kamri Rowland led the charge by scoring 20 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Rowland has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last eight times she's played. Another player making a difference was Taylor Van meter, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds.

This is the second loss in a row for West Lafayette and nudges their season record down to 11-8. As for Rensselaer Central, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 18-0.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. West Lafayette will take on Lafayette Jefferson at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Lafayette Jefferson will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings (they are ranked 310th, while West Lafayette is ranked 82nd). As for Rensselaer Central, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against North Newton at 7:00 p.m. Hopefully North Newton focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 24 last Tuesday.
