Softball Recap: Thursday's Victory Is Zion Christian Academy's Seventh in Last Nine Outings

Zion Christian Academy never let their opponents score on Thursday. They blew past Riverside Christian Academy 10-0. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won 13 games by six runs or more so far this season.

Marleigh McWilliams was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one home run.

In other batting news, Leighla Rains was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Charlee Cheek, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and four RBI.

Zion Christian Academy hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in five consecutive contests.

Zion Christian Academy has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-7-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Riverside Christian Academy, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-4.
