Softball Game Preview: Hough Huskies vs. Porter Ridge Pirates

The Hough Huskies will challenge the Porter Ridge Pirates at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Porter Ridge took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Hough, who comes in off a win.

Hough is looking to give their home crowd another W after opening their season at home on Tuesday. They never let Cox Mill get on the board and left with an 11-0 win.

Payton Elwell made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Elwell was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with four RBI and one double. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Olivia Bechtel was excellent, scoring two runs while going 1-for-1. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in runs. Seanna Shivers was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2.

Meanwhile, Porter Ridge came up short against Charlotte Latin on Tuesday and fell 8-4.

Porter Ridge saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hayden Stamey, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
