Preview: Garfield Bulldogs vs. San Pedro Pirates
After both having extra time off, The Garfield Bulldogs and the San Pedro Pirates will dust off their jerseys to square off against one another at 7:00 p.m. on November 9th. Garfield knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past ten matches -- so hopefully San Pedro likes a good challenge.
Garfield can now show off nine landslide victories after their most recent game on Friday. They claimed a resounding 49-16 victory over Roosevelt at home. With Garfield ahead 28-0 at the half, the match was all but over already.
Robert sanchez was the offensive standout of the contest as he rushed for 119 yards and three touchdowns on only ten carries. Sanchez is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in the last three games he's played. Damian Cabrera was another key contributor, throwing for 178 yards and three touchdowns while completing 92.3% of his passes.
Meanwhile, San Pedro put the finishing touches on their third blowout victory of the season two weeks ago. They were the clear victor by a 42-20 margin over Banning. San Pedro pushed the score to 35-14 by the end of the third, a deficit Banning had little chance of recovering from.
Garfield's victory was their third straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 9-1. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 45.67 points. As for San Pedro, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
Garfield was dealt a bruising 55-0 loss at the hands of San Pedro in their previous matchup back in April of 2021. Will Garfield have more luck at home instead of on the road?
