Softball Recap: Sauk Prairie Takes a Loss

Sauk Prairie was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their 13th straight loss dating back to last season. They came up short against the River Valley Blackhawks, falling 14-4. The Eagles were not able to make up for their defeat to the Blackhawks from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

Lexi Cegielski and Jenna Shimpach stepped up to the plate in a big way. Cegielski went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and two runs, while Shimpach went 2-for-3 with two doubles and one RBI. Cegielski is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Thea Harpold also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Sauk Prairie's loss dropped their record down to 0-12. As for River Valley, the victory got them back to even at 6-6.

Looking ahead, Sauk Prairie will square off against Mount Horeb at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Vikings will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something the Eagles surely won't give up without a fight. As for River Valley, they will take on Lancaster at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
