Taconic is 9-1 against East Longmeadow since May of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Thunder will take on the Spartans at 4:00 p.m.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Taconic and Pittsfield meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Thursday. The Thunder fell just short of the Generals by a score of 8-7.

Meanwhile, East Longmeadow played in-conference for the first time on Thursday and got just the result they were looking for. They put the hurt on Minnechaug Regional with a sharp 15-8 win. Considering the Spartans have won four contests by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Colin Maruca and Max Carlin did most of the damage at the plate: Maruca went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI, while Carlin went 1-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. With that strong performance, Carlin is now averaging an impressive 1.1 stolen bases per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Lucas LaChapelle, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three RBI.

Taconic has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-4 record this season. As for East Longmeadow, their victory ended a seven-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 4-3.

Taconic beat East Longmeadow 4-1 in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Thunder since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
