Baseball Game Preview: Tuscarora Titans vs. Oakdale

The Tuscarora Titans will face off against Oakdale on Monday. Tuscarora's pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so Oakdale's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Tuscarora lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Governor Thomas Johnson, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Thursday's contest. The Titans put the hurt on the Patriots with a sharp 9-2 victory on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Titans have posted against the Patriots since May 2, 2022.

Meanwhile, Oakdale fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Urbana on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Hawks by a score of 7-6. The loss was Oakdale's first of the season.

Patrick O'Neal was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits (and not a single walk). O'Neal was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, Nolan Noweski was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

The victory made it two in a row for Tuscarora and bumps their season record up to 3-4. The team dominated over those games too, winning by an average of 9 runs. As for Oakdale, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 3-1.

Tuscarora couldn't quite finish off Oakdale in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 and fell 2-0. Can the Titans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
