Basketball Game Preview: Princeton Tigers vs. Providence Academy Lions

A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Princeton Tigers face off against the Providence Academy Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Friday... Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Last Friday, Princeton was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 66-61 to Becker. The Tigers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Providence Academy put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Blake 93-28. The Lions have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten contests by 21 points or more this season.

Princeton better focus on containing Maddyn Greenway and Hope Counts as the pair were huge in Providence Academy's win. Greenway dropped a triple-double on 30 points, 14 boards, and ten assists, while Counts dropped a triple-double on 19 points, 15 rebounds, and 12 assists. Greenway has been hot for a while, having posted 16 or more points the last 47 times she's played. Beckett Greenway was another key player, going 8 of 10 on her way to 18 points.

Providence Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 31 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in February of 2024.

Providence Academy pushed their record up to 14-0 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 94.0 points per game. As for Princeton, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-6.

Princeton might still be hurting after the 69-43 loss they got from Providence Academy in their previous matchup back in February of 2021. Can Princeton avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
