Basketball Recap: Raymondville Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Colt Cavazos and Jaden Mendez

Raymondville suffered their biggest loss since December 28, 2024 on Thursday. They lost 62-41 to the Lyford Bulldogs. The Bearkats haven't had much luck with the Bulldogs recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.

Despite the defeat, Raymondville had strong showings from Jaden Mendez, who went 7 for 13 on his way to 15 points and six boards, and Colt Cavazos, who posted ten points in addition to eight rebounds and seven assists. Cavazos is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last ten games he's played. Another player making a difference was Joshua Tamez, who had five points and four steals.

Even though they lost, Raymondville smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 23 consecutive games.
