Basketball Game Preview: Joshua Owls vs. Burleson Elks

Joshua is 2-8 against Burleson since January of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Joshua Owls will square off against the Burleson Elks at 7:00 p.m. Joshua will be strutting in after a win while Burleson will be coming in after a defeat.

Joshua will bounce into Friday's match after beating Everman, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. Joshua secured a 57-51 W over Everman on Tuesday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Owls as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Meanwhile, Burleson was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were beaten by Centennial 71-36. While losing is never fun, the Elks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 473rd, while the Spartans are ranked 58th).

Burleson's defeat dropped their record down to 17-11. As for Joshua, their win bumped their record up to 12-14.

Joshua suffered a grim 59-38 defeat to Burleson when the teams last played back in January of 2024. Can Joshua avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
