League recap: Heritage tops Liberty to extend winning streak

3A Conference 30 recap October 29, 2013

Heritage added to the longest winning streak in 3A Conference 30 this week by beating Liberty, 30-27. This was the team's eighth consecutive win.

Tunstall took down Martinsville 58-14 last week, the largest margin of any game. Chris Buckner threw for 64 yards and 2 touchdowns and ran for 61 yards in the win.

The Trojans' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. On the ground Peyton Farrior chipped in 113 yards. Dustin Kuczinski helped Tunstall's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 12 yards.

Khalil Lashley was the best wideout in the league this week as Tunstall topped the Bulldogs. Lashley racked up 1 reception for 22 yards. Kuczinski helped Tunstall's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 12 yards.

Tunstall's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Trojans feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Buckner has thrown for 839 yards and 7 touchdowns this season, while Kuczinski has 12 catches for 203 yards.

An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Brookville takes on Heritage. The Bees are in fifth place, while the Pioneers are in first place.

Rustburg made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 2,446 from 2,799. The improvement was the result of a 35-7 victory over Jefferson Forest last week.
