Baseball Recap: DeLand Comes Up Short

DeLand came into their game on Tuesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against the Providence School Stallions, falling 12-2. Having soared to a lofty 12 runs in the game before, the Bulldogs couldn't push the score so high this time.

Ethan Zagers made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. He has become a key player for DeLand: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 5-8 otherwise.

DeLand now has a losing record of 8-9. As for Providence School, they moved to 11-7 with that win, which also ended their four-game losing streak.

Coming up, DeLand will face off against Orangewood Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Bulldogs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Rams have averaged an impressive 6.9 runs per game this season. As for Providence School, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Episcopal School of Jacksonville at 6:30 p.m.
