Volleyball Recap: Westerville North Starts Season with Win Against Newark

Westerville North had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Newark Wildcats on Monday.

Westerville North had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 22-25, 25-14, 25-15, 25-20.

Owen Varsanyi paced Westerville North's offense, picking up 13 kills. Varsanyi got some help from Sam Gainey and his 27 assists. Showan Zako controlled things from the service line, finishing with five aces.

Westerville North has already played their next contest, a 3-0 win against Westerville South on the 18th. As for Newark, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 3-2 defeat against Dublin Scioto on the 18th.
