2A Region 7 league recap: 3/13/13

Wesson's Alex Smith was the best pitcher in 2A Region 7 this week. He won one game and struck out 11 batters.

The Cobras outpaced the rest of the league this week, as their four total wins led the league. Wesson beat East Marion 10-2, West Lincoln 9-5 and Brookhaven 6-5.

Six batters hit over .400 this week. The group was paced by Bailey Warren, who collected six hits in ten at bats for a .600 average.

Loyd Star's Cori Crowe threw five shutout innings in a 10-0 win over Bassfield on Tuesday. He pitched five scoreless innings and struck out 11, while giving up one hit.

Smith struck out 11 in Wesson's 10-2 win over East Marion on March 8. Over seven innings of work, he gave up two hits and two runs.
