Volleyball Game Preview: Round Lake Panthers vs. Lake Zurich Bears

Round Lake hasn't had much luck against Lake Zurich recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Panthers will challenge the Bears at 11:00 a.m. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Round Lake sitting on three straight wins and Lake Zurich on eight.

Round Lake played in-conference for the first time on Tuesday and got just the result they were looking for. They came out on top against North Chicago by a score of 2-0.

Round Lake not only won, but also showed off some consistency: they kept North Chicago between 16 and 17 points across their sets. The match finished with set scores of 25-16, 25-17.

Meanwhile, Lake Zurich hadn't done well against Stevenson recently (they were 1-7 in their previous eight matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Bears walked away with a 2-0 victory over the Patriots.

Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Lake Zurich took both sets by at least ten points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-15, 25-15.

Lake Zurich's win was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 32-3. As for Round Lake, they picked up their first home victory, bumping their record up to 3-28.

Round Lake came up short against Lake Zurich in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, falling 2-0. Can the Panthers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
