Basketball Recap: Donna Comes Up Short

Donna lost against Edcouch-Elsa back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Donna Redskins came up short against the Edcouch-Elsa Yellowjackets, falling 69-46. The Redskins' loss continues a trend for the team, making it five in a row.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Edcouch-Elsa to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jaydon Villalpando, who went 5 of 10 on his way to 16 points along with six boards and five assists. Villalpando is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Victor Hernandez was another key player, putting up 14 points.

Donna's defeat dropped their record down to 2-25. As for Edcouch-Elsa, their victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-9.

Donna will host Lopez at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Edcouch-Elsa, they will take on Porter at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Edcouch-Elsa knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four contests -- so hopefully Porter likes a good challenge.
