Basketball Game Preview: Waterville Shockers vs. Pateros Billygoats/Nannies

The Waterville Shockers will face off against the Pateros Billygoats/Nannies at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Pateros will be up against a hot Waterville team: the squad just extended their winning streak to four. Waterville blew past Soap Lake 76-19 on Saturday. Given the Shockers' advantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 76th, while the Eagles are ranked 268th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Pateros came tearing into Saturday's game with eight straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 24.6 points), and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Devils, posting a 62-18 victory. With the Billygoats/Nannies ahead 50-10 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.

Pateros pushed their record up to 18-4 with the win, which was their tenth straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 23.2 points over those games. As for Waterville, their victory bumped their record up to 18-3.

Waterville came up short against Pateros in their previous matchup back in January, falling 41-37. Can Waterville avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
