Softball Game Preview: Palmetto Mustangs vs. Belton-Honea Path Bears

Palmetto and Belton-Honea Path are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2022, but likely not for long. The Palmetto Mustangs will be playing in front of their home fans against the Belton-Honea Path Bears at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Palmetto has struggled recently with four losses in a row, while Belton-Honea Path will arrive with nine straight victories.

Palmetto came up short against James F. Byrnes on Tuesday, falling 23-9.

Landry Woodson stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she went 4-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Graelyn Adams, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Meanwhile, Belton-Honea Path faced West-Oak in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. Belton-Honea Path walked away with a 4-1 win over West-Oak. The four-run effort marked the Bears' lowest-scoring matchup of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Belton-Honea Path's victory bumped their record up to 8-0. As for Palmetto, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-7.
