Basketball Recap: Desert View Takes a Loss

Desert View lost against Buena back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Desert View Jaguars were dealt an 84-49 loss at the hands of the Buena Colts. While losing is never fun, the Jaguars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 300th, while the Colts are ranked 62nd).

Buena got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Kingston Clarke out in front who went 7 for 12 en route to 18 points. Clarke continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Jamin Booker was another key player, going 8 of 13 on his way to 16 points and seven boards.

Desert View dropped their record down to 3-17 with the defeat, which was their 17th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Buena, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 15-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Desert View will venture away from home to face off against Flowing Wells at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Desert View is facing Flowing Wells at the right time seeing as Flowing Wells is stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Buena, they will head out on the road to square off against Cienega at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Cienega's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.
