Recap: Stayton Eagles vs. St. Helens Lions
The Stayton Eagles were the 59-32 winner over the St. Helens Lions when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Stayton took a 50-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of St. Helens on Friday. Stayton has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the loss, Stayton still got an impressive performance from Kaden Holm, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 16 rebounds. The contest was Holm's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Elijah Kuenzi, who scored six points.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead St. Helens to victory, but perhaps none more so than Landen R evans-cox, who scored 14 points. Another player making a difference was Cameron Cox, who scored 12 points.
Stayton now has a losing record at 1-2. As for St. Helens, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-1.
Stayton will head out on the road to face off against Pleasant Hill at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Pleasant Hill presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Stayton in Oregon (Pleasant Hill is ranked 18th, while Stayton is ranked 130th). As for St. Helens, they will be playing at home against Hillsboro at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
