Soccer Recap: Winona Comes Up Short

Winona was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against the Kasson-Mantorville Komets, falling 3-0. That's two games in a row now that Winona have lost by exactly three goals.

Winona's loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 5-4. As for Kasson-Mantorville, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-4-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Winona will challenge Faribault at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Kasson-Mantorville, they will venture away from home to challenge Red Wing at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Kasson-Mantorville will be up against Red Wing's rather soft defense (which has allowed five goals per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
