Baseball Game Preview: Villa Park Spartans vs. Ocean View Seahawks

The Villa Park Spartans will venture away from home to square off against the Ocean View Seahawks at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Villa Park will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

Villa Park is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of California's top teams: Bishop Amat, who was ranked 18th at the time (Villa Park was ranked 24th). The Spartans came out on top against the Lancers by a score of 6-3 on Thursday. Six seems to be a good number for the Spartans as the team scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Jake Nobles led a balanced Spartans bullpen and pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Nobles has been consistent: he hasn't given up a single earned run in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Aidan Young was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. Gunner Santillo was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.

Villa Park was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .423. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .321 or higher in five consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Ocean View won against Tustin on Tuesday with five runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. The Seahawks had just enough and edged out the Tillers 5-4. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Seahawks.

Villa Park's victory was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-5. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Ocean View, their record now sits at 11-13.

Villa Park couldn't quite finish off Ocean View in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 and fell 3-1. Can the Spartans avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
