Basketball Recap: Santa Fe Indians vs. Friendswood Mustangs
The Santa Fe Indians's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They took a serious blow against Friendswood, falling 69-36. While losing is never fun, Santa Fe can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 743rd, while the Mustangs are ranked 245th).
Santa Fe's loss came despite strong showings from Kenny Torres and Aidan Jewell. Torres scored six points along with ten rebounds, while Jewell scored ten points along with two steals.
Santa Fe dropped their record down to 11-19 with that loss, which was their sixth straight on the road. As for Friendswood, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 20-10 record this season.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Texas City the next time they take the court. Friendswood will head out to face Texas City at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while Santa Fe will host them at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
