Baseball Recap: Inter-City Baptist Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Victory

Inter-City Baptist took a 15-run defeat the last time they faced off against Lutheran, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Chargers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 14-13 victory over the Warriors on Saturday. With that win, the Chargers brought their scoring average up to 6.6 runs per game.

Jacob Kroger was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Luke Harrison, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.

Inter-City Baptist always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .526. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April.

The victory (which was Inter-City Baptist's fourth in a row) raised their record to 10-6. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Lutheran, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last ten games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season.

Inter-City Baptist will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Annapolis at 10:00 a.m. The Cougars will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something the Chargers surely won't give up without a fight. Lutheran will be paying especially close attention to Inter-City Baptist's matchup: after Inter-City Baptist faces off against Annapolis, they'll take on Lutheran again at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
