Baseball Game Preview: DeSoto Central Jaguars vs. Tupelo Golden Wave

The DeSoto Central Jaguars will face off against the Tupelo Golden Wave at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Last Monday, DeSoto Central didn't have quite enough to beat Marion and fell 5-4.

Meanwhile, Tupelo suffered their closest loss since February 14th on Tuesday. They fell just short of Lafayette by a score of 4-2. The Golden Wave have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Tanner Brannigan was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run over six innings pitched. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

Tupelo now has a losing record of 13-14. As for DeSoto Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-11.

DeSoto Central couldn't quite get it done against Tupelo in their previous meeting back in February of 2024 as they fell 11-8. Can the Jaguars avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
