Soccer Game Preview: Layton vs. Syracuse

The Layton Lancers will challenge the Syracuse Titans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Layton's last three matchups have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Layton is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Utah's top teams: Davis, who was ranked fourth at the time (Layton was ranked 24th). The Lancers fell just short of the Darts by a score of 4-3 on Wednesday. The match was a 2-2 toss-up at halftime, but Layton couldn't quite close it out.

They hit Davis with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Kyle Lemburg, Tennyson Romero, and Cameron Whitesides.

Meanwhile, Syracuse came into Tuesday's contest having lost five straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They came out on top against Fremont by a score of 3-1 on Tuesday.

The win got Syracuse back to even at 6-6. As for Layton, their loss dropped their record down to 5-4.

Layton was able to grind out a solid victory over Syracuse in their previous meeting two weeks ago, winning 4-2. Do the Lancers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Titans turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
