Baseball Recap: Ranney Extends Road Winning Streak to Four

Ranney lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Middletown South, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Tuesday's game. Ranney was the clear victor by a 13-5 margin over Middletown South on Tuesday. With that victory, Ranney brought their scoring average up to 6.6 runs per game.

Zach Messina spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on ten hits.

On the hitting side, Andrew Parisi was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brody Mauro, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.

Ranney always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .564. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Middletown South only posted an OBP of .355.

Ranney pushed their record up to 6-3 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Middletown South, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-5 record this season.

Ranney will have a chance to go back-to-back against Middletown South: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
