Preview: Saluda Tigers vs. Mid-Carolina Rebels
Saluda has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will challenge the Mid-Carolina Rebels at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in South Carolina (Saluda is ranked 98th, while Mid-Carolina is ranked 121st).
Last Friday, Saluda was able to grind out a solid win over Ninety Six, taking the game 35-26.
Meanwhile, Mid-Carolina waltzed into their matchup on Friday with five straight wins but they left with six. They really took it to Abbeville for the full four quarters, racking up a 52-23 victory on the road. Mid-Carolina has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten games by 21 points or more this season.
Mid-Carolina can attribute much of their success to BreA Boyd, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds and two steals, and Brayden Brooks, who scored 11 points along with nine steals. Boyd is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Josie Shepherd was another key contributor, scoring four points along with five rebounds and five steals.
Saluda's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-1. Mid-Carolina's record is now 12-2.
Saluda came up short against Mid-Carolina when the teams last played back in February of 2023, falling 40-31. Can Saluda avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
